Man, 51, Crossing Street Seriously Injured After Being Hit By Car On Long Island

Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating after a 52-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash on Long Island.

Suffolk County Police say Concepcion Zavala, 51, of Brentwood was crossing Washington Avenue eastbound in Brentwood when he was struck by a 2006 Nissan Altima traveling southbound on Heyward Street around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8.

Zavala was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with serious injuries, according to police.

The driver of the Nissan, Patricia Ramirez, 45, of Brentwood, was not injured. The Nissan was impounded for a safety check, police say.
